    Overseas Applicant FAQ's

    Visas

Successful applicants will have their visa applications sponsored by Interpac. The process in HK is straightforward and relatively quick, and qualified people have no problem with successful applications.

    Compensation:
Salaries in HK are comparable and competitive to those in North America and Europe.

    Cost of Living:
You have no doubt heard that HK is an expensive city to live. This is partly true, due mostly to high property values which result in high rents. However, this is more than compensated for by the very low 15% flat income-tax rate. After all balancing factors are taken into account, cost of living in Hong Kong is reasonable.

Also, at the present time HK property values are considered to be at the bottom of a cycle, meaning that at the moment rents in HK are particularly inexpensive by local standards, so now is a very good time for anyone considering relocating to Hong Kong.

    Language:
English is the common language of business not just in HK, but across Asia Pacific. If you speak or write any Asian language it can be useful, but it's not required.

    Lifestyle:

Most jobs with Interpac involve some travel in Asia Pacific, so you will experience a range of cultures. For Hong Kong specifically, here is a brief summary of lifestyle, but for the detailed story check out the HK Tourist Association.

    Social
Work hard play hard is the motto in this city. A large cosmopolitan and highly motivated (i.e. high achievers) community of ex-patriates combines with a blend of local and regional cultures. Clubs, bars, and an incredible international restaurant scene combine to produce a social life and night life that can make New York and L.A. seem downright pedestrian.

    Sports:
Name your game, it's here - Football (both kinds!), rugby, squash, hoops, softball, tennis, 24-hour gyms, etc.

    Adventure sports:
You're in the right place. You may be surprised to learn that in addition to being a legendary ultra-modern urban centre, the territory of HK comprises 80% country parks with great hiking, biking and rock-climbing. Go trail-running 15 minutes from your front door. Try the annual 100-K Maclehose trailwalk competition, or do the Action Asia Challenge. Surf Bigwave Bay or windsurf where Olympic Gold Medalist boarder San-san Shan hangs out. That's just in HK. Here you're right next door to a dozen tropical countries set in emerald seas. Hop over to Nepal and go trekking or white water rafting, do world-class rockclimbing in ko Chang, Thailand, dive the Philippines etc etc etc. Point your browser to Action Asia for the full scene across the region.

    Arts and Entertainment:
Annual HK Arts Festival, Fringe Festival, Film Festival; HK Philharmonic and Ballet, continual programmes of visitng artists and companies.
